Paper Machine Clothing 1.5-Layer, 2.5-Layer & 3-Layer Forming Fabrics For Paper Machine
Product Description
Polyester forming fabrics are the critical dewatering and sheet-forming medium on modern paper machines. Woven from 100% polyester monofilament in single-layer 4-shed, 5-shed, and 8-shed constructions, they typically feature warp diameters of 0.18–0.24 mm, weft diameters of 0.21–0.45 mm, warp density of 27.5–35.5 threads/cm, weft density of 14.5–32 threads/cm, air permeability of 7,000–7,900 m³/m²h, surface strength of ≥600 N/cm, joint strength of ≥400 N/cm, and a thickness of approximately 0.52 mm (varies by structure). Engineered for dimensional stability and consistent permeability, they receive stock from the headbox, separate water from the fiber web, and carry the forming sheet to the press section, making them the mainstream choice for tissue, printing, packaging, and board grades.

Applications:
Polyester forming fabrics are installed in the forming section of Fourdrinier, gap former, and hybrid former paper machines, receiving stock from the headbox, forming the wet web, and conveying it to the press section. Suitable for low to high machine speeds, they cover tissue, napkin, cultural, printing, newsprint, kraft, packaging, specialty paper, and containerboard grades: 4-shed and 5-shed single-layer fabrics for cultural, printing, packaging, and tissue paper; 8-shed single layer for kraft, bag, corrugated paper, and linerboard; double-layer and 2.5-layer fabrics for high-grade printing, tissue, fine paper, and board top liner; and triple-layer fabrics for tissue grades (approx. 11–15 g/m²) requiring superior fiber support. They are also used in pulp dewatering, sludge filtration, and industrial filtration, with custom dimensions and seam configurations available.
High dimensional stability: Heat-set construction minimizes stretching and edge curling under tension.
Efficient dewatering: Controlled permeability enables rapid water removal while retaining fibers and fillers.
Excellent wear resistance: Multilayer and modified monofilament options extend service life on high-speed machines.
Smooth sheet surface: Fine paper-side weave reduces wire marks and improves printability.
Chemical durability: Resistant to acid and alkali conditions typical in papermaking furnish systems.
4-shed single layer: Cultural paper, printing paper, packaging paper
5-shed single layer: Tissue, napkin, cultural paper, packaging paper
8-shed single layer: Kraft paper, bag paper, corrugated paper, linerboard
Double layer / 2.5-layer: High-grade printing paper, tissue, fine paper, board top liner
Triple layer: Tissue grades (approx. 11–15 g/m²), where superior fiber support is required
