2.5-Layer Polyester Forming Fabric for High-Speed Paper Machines Stable, Durable, Efficient
Product Description
Polyester forming fabrics are available in single-layer, 1.5-layer, double-layer, 2.5-layer, and triple-layer constructions. Warp and weft monofilaments are typically PET-based, with optional high-molecular-weight or modified polyester grades for enhanced wear resistance and hydrolysis stability. Multilayer designs incorporate separate paper-side and machine-side structures to optimize fiber retention and wear life simultaneously. Typical air permeability ranges from 7,000 to 7,900 m³/m²h for standard single-layer fabrics, with multilayer variants tuned for specific drainage profiles.

Applications:
Polyester forming fabrics are installed in the forming section of Fourdrinier, gap former, and hybrid former paper machines. They receive stock from the headbox, form the wet web, and convey it to the press section. Suitable for machine speeds from low to high, they are used across tissue machines, fine paper machines, kraft and packaging paper machines, and board machines. Custom dimensions and seam configurations are available to match specific machine layouts.
High dimensional stability: Heat-set construction minimizes stretching and edge curling under tension.
Efficient dewatering: Controlled permeability enables rapid water removal while retaining fibers and fillers.
Excellent wear resistance: Multilayer and modified monofilament options extend service life on high-speed machines.
Smooth sheet surface: Fine paper-side weave reduces wire marks and improves printability.
Chemical durability: Resistant to acid and alkali conditions typical in papermaking furnish systems.
4-shed single layer: Cultural paper, printing paper, packaging paper
5-shed single layer: Tissue, napkin, cultural paper, packaging paper
8-shed single layer: Kraft paper, bag paper, corrugated paper, linerboard
Double layer / 2.5-layer: High-grade printing paper, tissue, fine paper, board top liner
Triple layer: Tissue grades (approx. 11–15 g/m²), where superior fiber support is required
